Nano Dimension ATARU™ BLACK -IFU & Post Processing Instructions
Nano Dimension Ataru Black Post Processing Instructions
Nano Dimension Ataru Black is a ceramic composite material that can be printed on the B9Creations Elite Series Micro. This material requires special post processing to achieve desired material properties and surface finish.
*DO NOT RINSE GREEN PARTS WITH ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL. Rinsing with Isopropyl alcohol as with standard resins will result in a white blotchy surface finish and can diminish final material properties.
To clean green parts printed with Ataru Black, Nano Dimension Resin Cleaner will be required. Nano Dimension Resin Cleaner can be purchased along with Nano Dimension Ataru Black through the Nano Dimension store.
Cleaning Process:
Required materials: Nano Dimension Resin Cleaner, Paper Towels, Shallow Chemical Resistant Container, Distilled Water, Compressed Air. (Controlled pressure compressed air is recommended but not required. It is more helpful for delicate parts.)
- Remove prints from printer and use compressed air to remove excess resin from parts. Keeping parts on the build table is recommended to help hold small parts for this step.
- Remove parts from the build platform and place into container with Nano Dimension Resin Cleaner.
- Let parts soak for 7-10 minutes. Cleaner can be heated to reduce soaking time. *(Do not let cleaner exceed 40° If heated, soak parts for 5-6 minutes)
- Remove parts from cleaner and rinse with Distilled water. Use compressed air to help dry parts and remove more resin residue.
- Repeat steps 3 and 4 until parts are clean. Once parts are cleaned completely, remove remaining cleaner and water with compressed air and let parts sit and dry for 30 minutes to an hour.
*Parts should be a general matte finish once cleaned. There may be small shiny areas that indicate remaining resin. If these areas are not integral to part accuracy, they can be cured to the part during final cure and baking process.
Curing:
Parts should be final cured once cleaned. Cure using Dentmate Traydex cure unit, in air, for 10 minutes per side. Parts can be cured for longer without risk of overcuring.
Thermal Post Treatment:
To achieve final material properties and heat resistance, parts will need to be heated in a ramp oven. Larger parts can be at risk of warping if heating oven reaches temperature too fast and if parts are not allowed to slowly cool after reaching final temperature.
- Place parts on a heat-resistant plate such as glass or metal. Place into ramp oven.
- Heat parts from room temperature to 200° Celsius at a rate of 2°/minute to promote even heating for bulkier parts. Heating at a controlled rate is not mandatory but will minimize part warping.
- Hold parts at 200°C for 2 hours.
- Let parts cool in the oven to 45° Let oven cool at a rate of 3°C/minute to minimize warping. Parts should be cooled to 45°C minimum before removing. Once cooled, parts can be removed from the oven.
