Gray resin compatability with 1.1/1.2 printers?

Is the gray resin compatible with a 1.1/1.2 printer? Also will the print speed be comparable to the yellow resin?

Thanks!

it seems like it will be, there was a response earlier to a question regarding this in these forums. I believe they are working on finding the appropriate settings for v1.- machines to use grey. as to print time of grey vs yellow...they are very different resins you can't burn grey out like you do yellow and emerald, I think the best resin to compare grey to would be black. I'm not sure what the difference is in print time though.

from the product descriptions it seems that grey is probably faster than yellow in terms of print time. as yellow is mentioned as the "fastest printing CASTABLE resin" while grey is billed as being capable of building 100mm/hr on the core machines. (nothing else has a quote regarding how fast it prints so that seems like an indicator that it is speedy.

Grey is for prototyping and not for casting. Can be molded for production work to shoot waxes patterns, etc. Has the shortest exposure times, therefore fastest prints.

Is it compatable with the older printers though?

From what I have read here The B9 crew are working on it but right now it seems it only works on the Core series.

The B9R-6-Gray Resin paired with the B9 Core Series can extend your functional prototyping into production value.

Depend on B9R-6-Gray Resin for:
• Functional prototyping
• Conceptual Modeling
• Production Parts
• Design Verification
• Serial Production
• Mass customization

It will work in the 1.1/1.2, but B9C has not yet developed settings for anything other than the Core machines. Based on my contact with them over the issue, they felt that since it's main advantage in the Core would be speed for prototyping, there was no need to develop 1.1/1.2 settings, as the black serves the same purpose. It never occurred to them that 1.1/1.2 users might want it instead of black for the color. They have said they are looking into it; whether that means they intend to create settings, or that they're just thinking about it remains to be seen. Most of their communications do state that users are free to experiment and develop their own settings, but they have yet to even state what a rough starting point for that experimentation might be.

Mike is not one to just throw out numbers he has not tested himself. Be patient. I had been waiting on the Grey resin since I was first exposed to it nearly a year ago. I knew wanting it did not make a bit of difference. Mike gives us new materials and products when he is satisfied with results that he can stand behind. Be thankful for his commitment and being diligent.

You can always buy some of the grey and treat it like a third party resin and start from scratch. Start with shorter exposure times than the black and go from there, or wait, and save yourself money on wasted resin and wasted time.

That is not the issue; it's whether or not those numbers are actually coming, to which I've not gotten a definite answer.

you type in the word Grey in search forum box above on the right and you will find that others have used a grey resin that is NOT from B9
and share their settings. If you have Grey from B9 this may give you a starting point from other resins like the SubG thread as well as another that used the Black resin with grey pigments.
