Another Support Suggestion

The supports feature in the Layout program is just so handy, that I get tempted to use it for perhaps more than I should.

One area where it fails is when I was to use supports from the Layout program as casting sprues. Yeah, I can make these in Rhino, but it would be nice to do these in Layout

I change the top part of the support to a cylinder. No problem. But if the support connects to the inside of the ring, it automatically defaults to a cone shape, even if I tell it to be a cylinder.

Am I doing something wrong, or would this require a software modification?

What i do is place the supports where I want sprues for casting. I then add a little wax at the jucntion of the cones and print.

I generally change the bottom to cylinder and then adjust the size of it on the bottom
you can change this and also use penetration and distance of the taper
you can play with these settings to get what you want.

And here goes my another 5 cents :)

To compliment all above stated - you can place as many supports as you want and then choose all of the simultaneously either by holding CTRL button on the keyboard or in support list and apply desired settings/parameters to all of the supports.

P.S. Hello akgold :)
